    why is it that other shapers that are making thise type of boards call there boards the same model as boards shaped and ridden over 40 years prior...(such as death board or jaws for example) seems odd and not very creative..... whats your take on this and what do your readers think.... personally i think its bullshit...

    let's see. prior to that hull article in the journal there were 4 people i know of making hulls.liddle, two of his former employees and friends, tony and PG, and under the guise of PG, spence. they all kind of "borrowed" from one another-the hull tribe was a smaller, tightly knit crew then- so in a way it made sense. with that said ,they all had a knack for naming boards they built but never did they "borrow" anmae from another. rather, they kept it all very individual and to the board and rider of the board.

    post article it seemed a LOT of people jumped on the hull bandwagon, not only "borrowing" from the core hull shapers,their templates, ideas and seemingly board names, but trying to become the next hull maestro-overnight.(lest they forget it took 40 plus years of riding and shaping these hulls to their current refinement which they are now using to their advantage.) unreal. one youngster even claiming to be the next greenough, replicating every hull he could. to his credit he at least has unique names for his boards.

    in the scheme of things, as in nature, it will be the survival of the fittest( or perhaps in this case, the most experienced). people will ride various boards and from that will weed out the pretenders and stick to the ones who have benn doing it for decades,( because they know what they are doing when it comes to hulls), not just a couple of months or a few years.

    There is another one- Bowler of shapes and hulls, since the 70's. anyway this is an interesting take on it all. Part of me says who cares. Guys are building boards and putting their own tweak on them. Templates might look the same but after riding boards from a half dozen different hull builders,including my own, I can say each was different in it's own way. What I really look for is how they feel and there is one that feels different than the rest.
    As for the name of board thing, that is a tad strange. Seems to me a shaper would want to create their own name and identity.

    bottom line there all copys.. and all these late blooming wanna be hull guys are all clamoring..who gives a rats ass if you were the first guy to copy a board or the 50th...it makes no diffence... a copy is a copy and a kook is a kook....
